Beyond the Icecap: 33 days of resilience is a film (in the making) by me, Mikael Strandberg, in cooperation with Jeff Willner and Kensington Tours. Edit/sound/colorgrading and everything else: Sofie Rördam.
This is a film (well, more like a video) shot on a DJI2 and an Iphone. It is a film about fragility and strength, failure and recovery, and the call of the wild that drives humanity to explore. And for anyone who has faced life’s harshest moments and come out transformed. It’s about the power of nature, the strength of the human spirit, and the journey that begins after the adventure ends.
Main story is this: In August 2024, I embarked on a 33-day crossing of the Greenland Icecap, one of Earth’s most unforgiving terrains. Alongside a dedicated team, I faced relentless weather, grueling physical demands, and the emotional weight of isolation and recovery. From ice-cold stormwinds to rough “cauliflower ice,” every day pushed our limits, reshaping their understanding of resilience and teamwork.
Through personal anecdotes, raw reflections, and deceant footage of the Arctic wilderness, this documentary delves into the highs and lows of expedition life. It examines how preparation, team dynamics, and mental fortitude turn challenges into triumphs—and how such experiences transform the adventurer’s spirit.
