British trekkers on thin ice as they call out rescue teams three times
Unfortunately situations like this with people with very little training causes a lot of problems for everyone who likes adventure, exploration and travel. More permits, much more expensive and it puts local communties under strain. These guys are young and don´t know how life works, but the sponsors they have, should have figured this out. It is good, very good young people want to explore, but they should train on other much easier challenges first. Hopefully the will learn from this, prepare more, do more and come back again. Iceland is no joke in the winter.
Read the really good article here about the situation. http://www.isalp.is/en/forums/topic/the-coldest-crossing-a-few-thoughts
